Morning Pages - Public Schools are Better in Most Ways than Private

As a former boarding schoolgirl I would not change the education and schooling I had. Discipline was a strong point in my school and I needed that. OK I probably did not wholeheartedly agree with that when I was on the receiving end of a cane, I have no doubt it was quite the opposite if I remember right. Now I have a strong sense of self discipline which I need in my life. On an academic level I left school with 12 high grade 'O' levels, GCSE did not exist back then and 3 pretty good 'A' levels, none of which I have ever used. Like most people I hated the school regime when I was there, let's face it we only realise just how wonderful being young is when the grey hairs set in and the bits that once were perky and firm give in to gravity and sag a bit. For me to argue that private education is better than public I would have to have knowledge of both, I do not. I am not a teacher so I do not know if it is better or worse for them. I am sure I was pretty horrendous as a school girl judging by the number of times I met with discipline but I guess I would have been anyway. To be honest I do not think it makes that much of a difference, a child who has the desire to learn will do so no matter what type of schooling. Would I still have the same moral outlook and self discipline, probably most of that is my inherited genetic code.
